I Love Mountains

This is the picture of coal mining today. Remove the workers and blow the top of the mountain off. From ilovemountains.org.
This spring I drove through Kentucky and West Virginia. Very beautiful country side, especially Kentucky, very lush and green. It is beyond shameful to see this kind of environmental degradation. Our environmental protections are relatively strong in the Northwest and we are rich in parks and nature so it is easy to forget about other parts of the nation. It is hard enough contending with clear cutting forests, but to blow off entire tops of mountains is beyond words.

Also, the walk by Ed Wiley docu video was somewhere
and during it a great song “My Johnny’s Gone To Hilo”
played in the background. Being hard to discern as
background music I had to really dig hit and miss to
find it, but find it I did. It is on the album “The McGarrigle Hour” by Kate & Anna McGarrigle.
